PLAY “KHAMOSH ADALAT JAARI HAI” BY ACTING DEPPT OF IFTI

A Special Enactment of the play, “Khamosh Adalat Jaari Hai” written by Vijay Tendulkar, directed by Mr. Sandeep Mahajan and performed by the students of  present Acting Department is being held at Indian Film & Television Institute, at Meerut on 21st & 22nd July, at 3:30 pm sharp.
The story is a drama-within-the-drama, which reveals the agonised world of a young school teacher who is humiliated and insulted. Deceived by two lovers with whom she has brief but passionate affairs, she is desperate to lead a respectable life. The play indicts a male-dominated society, reflecting a feminist viewpoint. Its intricate artistry is reflected in the dialectical unity between its form and content. At another level it deals with the mask and the real face and the relationship of art to life.
After successful enactments of plays in the past like, “ Gadhe Ki Baraat”, “Adhe Adhure” and “Bade Bhaisaheb”, the theater group of Acting Department, BAHURANG is poised to present its fourth play.
IFTI always endeavours to encourage the students of various departments to perform and participate in live events and projects which provides them a good platform to hone their skills.
BAHURANG group is one such endeavour which gives the opportunity for the students of Acting, to showcase their learning through classical plays under veterans like K.Paintal and Sandeep Mahajan. The music of the play is given by the faculty of Singing deptt, Javed, Zeshan and Vilayat Khan.

Ghazal King Jagjit Singh remembered by IFTI on 11th Oct

With the sudden passing away of Jagjit Singh, the Ghazal maestro today in the morning, Indian music, in particular Ghazals have been orphaned. The singular contribution of Jagjit Singh was to democratize Ghazals, and make it acceptable to the general public. He was the first Ghazal singer who moved the rendition of Ghazals away from its reliance on classical instruments, to be arranged henceforth with a mixture of English instruments like a guitar, a violin, a bongo, and by infusing such instruments he made its acceptability far and wide.
With his sad demise, his loss would be difficult to fill, but his fans would ensure that he continues to be in the memory for all times to come.
To pay a heartfelt TRIBUTE to Padma Bhushan Sri Jagjit Singh, the Singing Department of IFTI, Meerut, has organised a Ghazal Show with performance of some chosen Ghazals of the maestro sung by the faculty and students at 3:30 pm, at the institute’s amphitheater, Box Office.

Adhe Adhure depicts Savitri, a middle-aged working woman dissatisfied with her circumstances- an unemployed son, a promiscuous teenaged daughter, and above all a husband who has failed to provide her emotional and financial security.
The play attempts to understand the very purpose of life. Life is a journey, which is an expression of our long –standing perceptions. Every one of us is seeking and searching for the true happiness. Students get Hands On Training!

In media industry, particularly in the creative and the technical side of film making and television production, it is highly imperative for a learner or a student to get the REAL feel of the gadgets, equipment, and the REAL Life that gets transformed into the REEL life. Students studying film technology, grammar of television, aspects of story telling, elements of production & post production need to go through the grit and grime of the REAL World of Production.IFTI having adopted this methodolgy for its students have been regulalrly sending students for the hands on training.

Students of Film & Television Direction are undergoing a vigorous training under veteran television professionals in Mumbai, in the ongoing TV Serial on Zee TV, "Sanjog Se Bani Sangini".The aspects of shooting & editing that they are getting exposed to at the moment are much beyond the contact hours of learning in class.Class Contact hours give them a thorough theoretical grounding, and hands on training in Real Situations, prepare them for the industry's demands.

The students of Camera & Lighting Techniques have gone through a month long hands on training under a veteran cameraman, in a forthcoming Reality Show on NDTV Imagine, ' Shaadi 3 Crore Ki' where they assisted during the shoots and gained immense experience and knowledge, clearing all their doubts regarding their subject. Students of present Camera batch too have undergone through a hands on attachment with an ongoing Film , ' Khwab' produced by Murad Khan.

Indeed, Hands On Training can give an impetus to the learning given to the students in the classroom.IFTI does just that!

Food For Thought....

I have always wondered, what do the students want these days? Do they want name, fame, success through short cuts...or do they want to follow their passion...through slogging, hard work, perseverance and proper guidance? What is the strategy that they are aiming to follow? Are they still clogged by the overpowering urge of their perants to do a 9-5 job, with a decent salary, a regular lifestyle, some security, and a non controversial life? To become engineers, IT professionals, Babus, Cops, do cushy corporate jobs with an MBA behind them....or they are looking beyond all this?

For any youngster, choosing a career is a mind boggling game starting right after they pass Xth boards...to do or not to do...that is the question...to follow their folks' strict instructions, to walk on the path of their parents' twinkling dreams...to sweat and pant and stand in queues to fill yet another form for some inane competition or the other...but what for?

To crib...and fret...and feel tired after each and every boring slogging day at work..to count the cash that is left in the bank by the end of each month...and to wistfully look at all those people who are happily persuing their passions..and enjoying a job , that they LOVE?

Be it a physical trainer, Yoga Guru, Art of Living Expert, Environmentalist, Radio Jockey, Sound Recordist, Dance Director, Actor...et al?

I think, the parents of 80s generation need to condition themsleves to let their children GO...to help them choose whatever they wish to....with a focussed guidance and motivation from them. If the guardians guide the children, about their careers based on their potential, passions and forte...we might have more passionate pilots, bankers, cops.....and definitely more passionate Radio Jockeys and Film makers as well!

Someone has rightly said~

Don't ask yourself what the world needs; ask yourself what makes you come alive. And then go and do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.
Follow your heart, but be quiet for a while first. Ask questions, then feel the answer. Learn to trust your heart.

Each day is New day at IFTI

Each day at the Indian Film & Television Institute is like a breath of fresh air, something new and different to offer just like the freshness of the morning sun, and the coolness of the dark night!

7th march,2011 was a day to remember at IFTI, when the students of the passing out Acting batch presented their learning of last 6 months in a powerfully perfromed 1hr 40 min play, "ADHE ADHURE" written by renowned writer Mohan Rakesh. The play was directed under the tutelage of HOD of the Acting stream, Mr. Paintal and faculty under him, Mr.Sandeep Mahajan, who had some tough time to motivate and prepare his pupils to do such a mature and powerful play. After a month of dilly dallying, dropping out of some students from the play, the play rehearsals finally took off and the results were more than satisfying. All the students- Pramod, Varsha, Ali, Raunak, Renu, Anil and Megha did their best and earned accolades from the audience especially the veterans sitting on the velvet chairs of the awsome auditorium, well named as the Box Office.

The veterans who motivated the students on their fine performance were none other than theatre and TV personality Srivardhan Trivedi who has left indelible impact on many viewers through his hit crime show, "SANSANI" and the great actor Kanwarjit Paintal, fondly known as PAINTAL who has won many a heart by his funny, and endearing acts in well known films like Jawani Diwani & Satte Pe Satta.

7th March, indeed a day to remember!!!
